This paper study God's role in inflation from Islamic view. The main
question is what role does God play in increasing the prices of
commodities and products in the market? Ash'ari theologians
believe that God is who prices commodities and products in market.
Then, He is the main cause of rising or falling of prices. Imamiyya and
Mu'tazilite Theologians believe that the cause of rising of prices in
the market sometimes is humane and sometime is divine. God's role
in increasing of prices can be in these types: 1) decreasing of
commodities and products because of natural disasters like
decreasing rain or pests; 2) increasing people's desire to buy; 3)
increasing population and 4) increasing people's needs to
something. There are some traditions (Hadith) that attribute the
rising of prices to God and His angels. I think that the main cause of
jumping prices in market is humane and economic and what Islamic
theologians attribute to God as a cause of changing prices in market
is a mistake that they commit because of admixing of God's direct
agency or causality and indirect in the word. God is not a direct cause
of increasing prices but He is indirect cause.
